I figured it was time to see where Drupal 8 is in its development/usability, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed.
I decided to take a Drupal sabbatical a little over a year ago when I saw where Drupal 8 was going. The Drupal community leadership, I felt, turned their backs on the people they should be showing the most respect - Drupal site builders, programmers and end-users. Instead, we got ... this.
It's like being Imperator Furosa and finding your once beautiful home a wasteland of dead trees and death-eating birds. A standard Drupal installation doesn't do that much and is pretty confusing, the first two (once popular) modules I installed broke my site, and the code that has replaced commonly used functions looks more cumbersome than wearing a whiskey barrel for pyjamas.
So much for first impressions.
I'll power through, since my career has been based mostly on being a Drupal developer. Hopefully it'll be a love-hate-love relationship in the end.
But needless to say, it's time to look at JavaScript frameworks. They're the current rage and the new age.
Anywho, this site will probably just serve as a repository for sharing my notes and insights into new technologies, software engineering practices and random/humurous thoughts that I find interesting, and hopefully might be worth something to others as well.
Happy Coding!
